Hepatitis C (HCV) is a viral infection that causes inflammation in the liver and can be fatal if left untreated. No vaccine currently exists for this deadly disease, meaning research into effective therapeutics is vitally important!
Pablo has been conducting research into direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapeutics as an effective treatment for Hepatitis C, his research has been greatly enhanced by using SiriusXT’s SXT-100, Soft X-ray Microscope.
Soft X-ray Tomography (SXT) has the unique ability to image the whole structure of intact cells with nanometer-resolution.
This capability allows researchers to both see how a virus is impacting the cell structure as well as to see how effective therapeutics are in reversing these structural changes. SXT helps in correlating structural changes in a cell with the impact of disease and in validating the delivery of nanomedicines to targeted cells.
